Teacher’s Alaska Hike Raises Money to Fight Parkinson’s

Philadelphia teacher and certified tennis professional Rachel Isenberg raised more than $2,000 for the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation.

Philadelphia teacher and certified tennis professional Rachel Isenberg raised more than $4,000 for the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation when she hiked more than 12 miles at Maclaren Glacier in Alaska and paddled 10 miles along the Maclaren River during her ninth annual summer challenge in honor of her mother. Overall, she’s raised more than $32,000 since her mother was diagnosed with the disease. Among the challenges Isenberg has completed since 2008 are climbs of Mount Rainier, Mount Kilimanjaro and Yosemite National Park’s Half Dome. She teaches at Temple University and conducts clinics at Legacy Youth Tennis and Education.
