Kenneth J. Weiss, M.D. of Bala Cynwyd was recently honored by the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law with the Golden Apple Award. The award is given to a senior member of the organization who has made significant contributions to psychiatry and the law. Dr. Weiss, clinical professor of psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania’s Perelman School of Medicine, is in the private practice of forensic psychiatry in Bala Cynwyd. He is currently president of the Philadelphia Psychiatric Society, a fellow of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia, and a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. Earlier this year he co-authored (with Dr. Clarence Watson) Psychiatric Expert Testimony: Emerging Applications, published by Oxford University Press.
Blank Rome Partner Adam E. Laver led the CLE panel, “Fundamentals of Real Estate Tax Assessment Appeals and Minimization Strategies in Philadelphia,” at the Pennsylvania Bar Institute’s 19th Annual Real Estate Institute. At Blank Rome, Laver concentrates his practice in the areas of real estate development, zoning and land use, and real property tax. He works closely with local elected officials and municipal agencies in various jurisdictions to obtain zoning, use, building, and related permits for both regional and national developers of real estate. Laver also represents owners and developers in connection with real estate tax exemption, abatement and market-value assessment appeals before the Board of Revision of Taxes and other boards of assessment appeals.
