Moore College of Art and Design professor Dr. Maureen Pelta will receive the HIAS Pennsylvania Golden Door award April 19 for the work she and her sisters have done working with the families of Holocaust survivors. It’s the second time in three years that HIAS is honoring Dr. Pelta, longtime volunteer chair for the Mordecai Anielewicz Creative Arts Competition at Moore. Sponsored by the Jewish Community Relations Council of the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia, the competition encourages middle and high school students to study the Holocaust and respond through creative expression. The award will be presented to Dr. Pelta and her sisters, Eleanor and Sylvia, at the National Museum of American Jewish History.
