New Kosher Destination Opens in Bala Cynwyd

David Magerman’s long-awaited — and long-delayed — kosher dairy restaurant opens its doors to the public.

From the “better late than never” annals: The Dairy, the kosher casual restaurant from mega-philanthropist David Magerman, is now open.
Originally slated to open in the fall of 2013, the Bala Cynwyd spot, located across Montgomery Avenue from Magerman’s first restaurant, Citron + Rose (now C +R), has gone through a number of delays and missed opening dates, including a “read my lips” promise from Magerman in the pages of Inside magazine last fall stating that The Dairy would be open by January 2015 at the latest. Construction delays accounted for the lion’s share of delays, Magerman said during that interview.
The Dairy will be serving breakfast — think egg sandwiches, omelets and oatmeal — and a combined lunch and dinner menu featuring appetizers, pastas and pizza. The restaurant will also be offering a number of “grab-and-go” options like salads and sandwiches. In a nod to the family demographic, there is also a children’s menu.
And for those of you hoping to check out The Dairy during Passover, be sure to have a contingency plan: The restaurant will be closed for the duration of the holiday.
