The Sisterhood of Congregations of Shaare Shamayim, 9768 Verree Road, Philadelphia, is running a cultural trip to visit historic Congregation Mikveh Israel at 1 p.m. We will visit with Senior Rabbi Albert Gabbai who has served the Spanish and Portuguese Orthodox synagogue since 1988. Mikveh Israel was founded in 1740 and is the second oldest congregation in the United States. The visit will include information about the history of the congregation and the ways women participate. The synagogue is located at 44 N. 4th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106. and the cost is $10 per person. Transportation is not included.
