‘Moses: A Human Life’ with Rabbi David Glanzberg-Krainin
January 11 @ 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 8:00 pm on Tuesday, repeating until January 11, 2022
Join Rabbi David Glanzberg-Krainin for a close reading of Avivah Gottlieb Zornberg’s work “Moses: A Human Life.”
Zornberg’s brilliance and artistry as a teacher of Jewish text, literary theory and psychoanalysis are on full display in this complex re-imagining of the life of Moses. Instead of Moshe Rabbeinu, the faithful prophet of God, Zornberg reveals Moses as far from perfect; a very human man, riddled with insecurities, anxieties and uncertain of his faith.
Moses’ self-doubt, which is mirrored in his speech impediment, becomes, in Zornberg’s vision, a metaphor for the exile of the Jewish people. Partly bibilodrama, partly literary theory, partly rabbinic commentary and partly an act of re-imagination, you will discover an unforgettable vision of Moses the man.
