Kabbalat Shabbat at South Philadelphia Shteibel

July 19 @ 7:15 pm - 8:30 pm

Rabbanait Dasi Fruchter and the South Philadelphia Shtiebel invite the community for Kabbalat Shabbat and Friday Night Services this coming Friday night, July 19, at 7:15 p.m., Parshat Balak.

This will be our first time davening together in our new space at 1733 E Passyunk. We’ve completed reconstruction, and while we’re early in our furnishings and decorations, we’re excited to welcome the community into our new home.

Kabbalat Shabbat services at the Shtiebel will be warm with singing, and follow traditional Kabbalat Shabbat and evening davening. Following services, Rabbanait Fruchter will deliver the D’var Torah. All services are in Hebrew, and we offer a selection of prayer books including those with English and transliterations.

The South Philadelphia Shtiebel is an orthodox shul that welcomes and includes folks of a range of Jewish backgrounds, experiences, practices, and beliefs. Children of all ages are welcome – especially little-ones who sometimes make noises!

The Shtiebel looks forward to holding weekly Friday night services. This is our first one, and we are taking the summer on a week by week basis.

Rabbanit Fruchter and the Shtiebel welcome the community again on Shabbat afternoon, July 20, for a class with Rabbanit Fruchter at 6 p.m. on “demystifying Jewish prayer,” which will approach one prayer a week from a philosophical and textual perspective, in addition to exploring the “how-to” aspects of each prayer. Afterwards, we will be sharing in Third Meal (Seudah Shlishit), Maariv and Havdalah.
