Gefilte Fish and Chips
May 29 @ 7:00 pm
$25 – $35
Direct from London, multi-award-winning musical storyteller Daniel Cainer returns from the wilderness with another collection of unique stories-in-song: ” Gefilte Fish and Chips”.
Cainer examines more than what it means to be Jewish with humor, wit, emotional resonance and even a dose of spiritual profundity. He is brilliant, charming, funny and still writes his promotional copy. You’ll leave with a whole heart and a head full of tunes you’ll not forget.
Cainer is now a veteran of five off-Broadway runs and was a 2020 MAC songwriter award finalist. He has written scores for film and television. Many well-known artists have covered his songs in the UK and the US; he’s been the “Singing Reporter” on the BBC Radio & TV with his topical themes and, more recently, the world’s only “Singing Astrologer” (probably). You can also hear his more reflective material sung by cantors in temples in the US and UK.
“An extraordinary performer. His songs are at times heartbreakingly poignant, at other times laugh-out-loud funny. Utterly charming, highly recommended” – Edinburgh Festivals Guide Magazine
“Cainer’s songs are heart-rending, delicate, and witty in all the right places.” – Daily Express
“A must see.” – Daily Mirror.
“Lovingly detailed shaggy dog storytelling.” – Time Out
“Tremendously entertaining. His voice is powerful and versatile, and his lyrics are like Robin Williams rants with delightful rhythms and rhymes.” – Jewish Currents, New York
