    Leonard Elliot Gilmar, age 89, of Bala Cynwyd,PA died on June 1, 2020.  He is survived by his wife, Jaye d’Andelot Pinch-Gilmar, two of his 3 children from his first  marriage, Rachel Hancock (the late Matthew), Elyssa Jo Macy (Josh), Daughter in-law Cheryl Gilmar (late son Samuel Gilmar); his sister Nadine Herbst (Saul); step-children, Andrew C. Hanks (Sarah) and Jonathan F. Hanks(Elizabeth); as well as 6 grandchildren , 4 step-grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.  Len was born May 31, 1931 in New York City, to Bessie (Yaverbaum) Glauberman and Jacob Glauberman.  He attended DeWitt Clinton High School and The Bernard M. Baruch College of The City University of New York, graduating in 1952 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He went on to Brooklyn Law School receiving an L.L.B. degree in 1955. He became a member of The New York State Bar in 1956 and a Certified Public Accountant in 1958. After law school, Len spent two years in the U. S. Army. Len worked for Merit Oil Corporation for almost his entire career serving as Senior Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer. The DeWitt Clinton motto Sine Labore Nihil – Nothing is accomplished without hard work, certainly describes Len’s ethos in all ventures he undertook.  A private graveside service was held at West Laurel Hill Cemetery, June 3, 2020. Arrangements made by West Laurel Hill Funeral Home. Contributions in his memory may be made to Lankenau Heart Institute, The Jewish Federation, or charity of the donor’s choice.
