Join Uru Achim and the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia on Sunday, August 30, at 4 p.m. for a concert featuring soprano Sharon Cheng and pianist Will Crutchfield. The program will include music from Verdi, Rossini, Handel, Liszt, Rachmaninov, Bellini and Offenbach and will be held at the Congregations of Shaare Shamayim in Philadelphia.
Cheng has given collaborative recitals on various programs throughout Asia, the United States and Europe. She has received first prize in numerous operatic vocal competitions including the Liszt International Competition, NTD International Vocal Competition and Taiwan National Theater Concert Hall 2009 Young Star Audition.
Crutchfield is the director of opera for the Caramoor International Music Festival, where he has conducted more than 25 titles by the composers included in the concert. He has held conducting posts with the Opera
de Colombia (Bogota) and the Polish National Opera (Warsaw).
Tickets are $25 at the door and $20 in advance. Senior citizen tickets are $20 at the door and $15 in advance. Children under the age of 12 can attend for free. All proceeds will support the “Mobile Gym” Fund to improve living conditions for front-line Israel Defense Forces soldiers operating the Iron Dome defense system.
