Passersby on the South Street Bridge this morning might have found a rather unwelcoming message.

Sophia Seifert posted a photo to the Southwest Center City Philadelphia Facebook group this morning featuring a teal blue spray-painted message on the sidewalk: “F**k Jews”

She was “disgusted” to find the graffiti, she wrote, adding she’d already contacted Councilman Kenyatta Johnson who said Philadelphia Parks & Recreation is sending someone out to remove it.

Facebook users commented on the post, voicing anger and disgust. One linked to a November Philadelphia magazine article detailing Philly’s new hate crimes hotline.

“Nope! Not in this city. We should not be this divisive in Philadelphia because this city is truly a melting pot,” wrote one commenter.

ADL Philadelphia tweeted they are already responding to the reported act of graffiti, labeling it anti-Semitic.

“We thank @CouncilmanKJ and @PhillyPolice for their prompt responses,” the tweet reads. “This despicable act of #hate has no place in the City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection.”

  1. Wonder what our very politically correct mayor is going to do about it? He is more concerned about his ongoing soda tax war against merchants and food suppliers, than bringing all decent folks together in this City of Brotherly Love.
