Two soccer fans in the Netherlands responsible for antisemitic graffiti targeting a Dutch soccer player have been ordered by a judge to 60 hours of community service and must visit the Holocaust Memorial of Names in Amsterdam, reported Dutch News.
The Feyenoord supporters—two males ages 42 and 47—drew graffiti on a wall in Rotterdam that was discovered on July 24.
The text accompanying the caricature said: “Jews always run.”
The graffiti was found shortly after Berghuis signed with the Amsterdam-based soccer team Ajax, a rival of Feyenoord’s. Ajax has a large Jewish fan base and some of the team’s fans refer to themselves as “Super Jews,” which has resulted in supporters of rival teams shouting antisemitic chants at Ajax supporters.
The defendants said they are unsure if they will accept the judge’s verdict or appeal, according to Dutch News.
