Heather Barbera of Ventnor, who authorities allege killed her mother and grandmother with a nightstick, will be extradited to New Jersey on Aug. 2, according to a press release from the Office of the Atlantic County Prosecutor.

Barbera, 41, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and first-degree robbery.

Her uncle, Richard Rosen of Brooklyn, N.Y., told the Press of Atlantic City that he discovered Michelle Gordon, 67, and Elaine Rosen, 87, dead in an apartment in a Ventnor condominium building apartment on July 8.

An affidavit of probable cause said that video surveillance shows Barbera leaving Vassar Square Condominiums on July 7. She traveled from there to Atlantic City and then New York City, where she used credit cards stolen from her mother.

On July 11, New York Police Department officers identified her and took her into custody, according to the press release. She has since remained in custody at Rose M. Singer Center, a women’s facility on Rikers Island, to await extradition.

“It’s unimaginable,” Richard Rosen told philly.com. “It was horrible. They were both on the floor. There was blood all over. I was hoping they were alive, even though they were dead.”
