Twenty-two JCC Camps at Medford campers and staffers were transported to area hospitals Monday evening after a crash involving five buses in Medford Lakes, N.J.
Katz JCC Marketing Director Stephanie Dworkin said Tuesday morning there were no status updates on those in the hospital. The cause of the accident is still unknown, Dworkin said.
The crash happened at around 4:30 p.m. on Monday at Tuckerton Road.
Four of the buses needed to be towed from the scene, and 67 campers and 10 staff members were taken off the buses and transported back to the JCC camp base on additional buses, according to 6ABC.
“We thank our partners in law enforcement, emergency medical services and the JCC staff for their work in ensuring the safety of our campers and staff were immediately attended to,” Dworkin wrote in a statement.
The Medford Township Police Department provided no further details.
Thank God the buses were all equipped with seat belts. Next time, they should take NJT #406 to camp.
