A capacity crowd attended an uplifting program about medical miracles on June 20 as part of the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia’s revival of its Health Care Network. Hosted by Beth Sholom Congregation, the panel discussion included Harley A. Rotbart, author of the new book Miracles We Have Seen: America’s Leading Physicians Share Stories They Can’t Forget, as well as local physician and essayist Harvey Guttmann. Rabbi David Glanzberg-Krainin provided the Jewish context for the inspirational discussion.
The saving of a life is among the highest of Jewish values and the Health Care Network brings together physicians, dentists, health care professionals and other interested community members who care deeply about this mitzvah. The group sponsors stimulating programs of broad interest on subjects relating to health care developments, medical and surgical achievements, entrepreneurship and ethics.
