Former Cherry Hill, N.J., Mayor Bernie Platt, who’s contributed to numerous Jewish causes and funded endowments to local Jewish day schools, met with students from Foxman Torah Institute in Cherry Hill on May 23. The founder of Platt Memorial Chapels, who didn’t become a Bar Mitzvah until he was 33, spoke about the meaning of tzedakah in his life and how he’s an example of someone who connected with his Judaism later in life.
