Shipley School fifth-graders Ethan Kopelman and Chase Leibowitz raised $4,224 on behalf of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America and the American Heart Association through “Hit an Ace with Ethan and Chase,” a charity tennis event they organized. More than 40 children from area schools participated.
As part of Shipley’s “Think, Care, Act” program, students are responsible for leading a personally meaningful service project. Chase was recently diagnosed with Crohn’s disease, while Ethan’s father suffered a heart attack last summer.
