David Smith

Longtime Jewish community supporter David Smith was honored by the Jewish Learning Venture for his commitment and years of service at an April 30 reception at Moore College of Art and Design. Past president of the Auerbach Central Agency for Jewish Education and current vice president of the American Jewish Committee’s Philadelphia/South Jersey chapter, he was cited for his role in promoting Jewish education.

His other former positions included president of the Community Hebrew Schools of Philadelphia/Jewish Outreach Partnership, president of the Jewish Publication Society, vice president of the Perelman-Schechter Jewish Day School and a board of trustees member for the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia. He’s also chairman and a member of the executive committee of Schnader, Harrison, Segal & Lewis LLP.

Yoni Azulay

Yoni Azulay, a 10th grade student from Jack M. Barrack Hebrew Academy, won first place in the narrative category for his film Again at the April 7 Film Now Festival in Ambler. The international high school film fest enables budding screenwriters, directors, producers and editors to showcase their work and have it subsequently judged by film professionals. Azulay received $300 for being the best among 42 entries in the narrative category.
