Jewish Exponent Senior Staff Writer Jon Marks won second place in the weekly newspapers category of the 37th annual William A. Schnader Print Media Awards competition.
Marks’ winning article was “For Legal Issues in Sports, He’s the Silver Standard,” a profile of Steve Silver published Aug. 20, 2015. Silver is a former sportswriter turned local attorney who’s become a popular sports legal blogger for the thelegalblitz.com.
Sponsored by the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the awards recognize journalistic excellence in news and feature reporting of the legal system and its operations, as well as editorial and commentary writing.
Winners were chosen based on their ability to foster greater public understanding of the legal system and to inform and educate citizens as to the roles of society and the law, the courts, law enforcement agencies and the legal profession.
Named in honor of the former state attorney general and PBA president, the awards will be presented at a Nov. 4 brunch during the Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association’s annual convention in Bedford, Pa.
