Voorhees, N.J., native Lauren Levy became only the third cantor in the 72-year history of Beth David Reform Congregation in Gladwyne. She assumes the duties of Lilia Kazansky, who retired and became cantor emerita after 31 years.
A University of Pennsylvania grad summa cum laude, she was ordained in 2016 at the Debbie Friedman School of Sacred Music at the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, where she was both a Wexner Graduate Fellow and a Tisch-Star Fellow. While in cantorial school, she interned at several New York-area synagogues. In addition, she’s a classically trained operatic singer who has performed in Europe as well as New York.
Veteran civil and criminal tax attorney Ian Comisky has joined Fox Rothschild, LLP in Philadelphia, heading its international compliance team. He brings 35 years of experience in the field, in addition to co-authoring Tax Fraud and Evasion and serving as an adjunct professor at the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
A member of Congregation Beth Or in Maple Glen, Comisky serves on the board of the Madlyn and Leonard Abramson Center for Jewish Life, as well being a trustee of the Comisky Foundation and The Solomon and Sylvia Bronstein Foundation.
