On Sunday, April 3, the Renaissance Group — the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia’s affinity group for adults ages 22 to 45 — brought together nearly 100 volunteers at its Rebuild event, making vital home repairs for Northeast Philadelphia seniors who are clients of the Jewish Federation’s Rhawnhurst NORC (Naturally Occurring Retirement Community). The volunteers spent the day working with staffers from Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia to transform 10 homes and the Congregations of Ner Zedek both inside and out. “This was an important opportunity to serve an at-risk population in a key Philadelphia neighborhood,” said House Captain Harlan Rosen.
Key to the success of the day were Renaissance Group Mitzvah Chairs Daniel Levine and Courtney Behar, as well as House Captains Ben Appel, Jennifer Birch, Beth Grutzmacher, Leah Howard, Amira Kipnis, Ella Lalwani, Scott Lipner, Jill Marateck, Harlan Rosen, Tori Rultenberg, Brian Schnoll, Justin Victor and Spencer Yablon.
The day was generously supported by Jewish Federation Real Estate (JFRE), Canada Dry Delaware Valley, Emergency Response Associates, Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia  and the Rhawnhurst NORC. For more information on the Renaissance Group, visit jewishphilly.org/ren.
