The Jewish Federation’s Main Event will take place on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015, and will feature special guest Jeffrey Tambor.
The Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia’s Main Event will take place on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Please Touch Museum in Philadelphia. This year’s Main Event Co-Chairs are Mackenzie and Josh Gross, and Nancy and Stuart Selarnick.
This evening of outstanding entertainment and communitybuilding will feature special guest Jeffrey Tambor, the awardwinning actor in Transparent, Arrested Development and The Hangover. In addition to presenting to the group, Tambor will also mingle and take photos with Main Event attendees.
You may know Tambor as Hank Kingsley, bellowing his famous catchphrase, “Hey nowww!” and selling unsafe garden tools to little old ladies as the self-centered sidekick to a talk show host played by Garry
Shandling on HBO’s critically acclaimed The Larry Sanders Show. Or perhaps you know him from the Emmy-winning sitcom Arrested Development, on which he starred as twin brothers George and Oscar Bluth.
On the big screen, Tambor appeared in two Hellboymovies and three Hangover comedies and contributed voice work to animated hits including Tangled, The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie and Monsters vs. Aliens. He made his Broadway debut in 1976, opposite George C. Scott in Arthur Penn’s comedy Sly Fox. In 2005, he returned to Broadway as George Aaronow in David Mamet’s Glengarry Glen Ross, which won the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play.
Today, Tambor is entertaining audiences with what he refers to as “a once-in-a-lifetime role, one that excites the acting chi of even the most polished and prolific professionals.” Tambor plays the transgender
patriarch-turned-matriarch in Amazon’s hit new series that has the critics buzzing — Transparent, for which he won the 2015 Golden Globe for Best Actor in a comedy series, as well as a Critics’ Choice Award and an Emmy nomination.
Tambor is one of the most iconic and respected character actors of his generation and, after achieving success by “performing his life,” he has a lot to teach his audiences. As a man of many talents,
Tambor is highly creative and will use his overwhelming love for life and the lessons learned along the way as sparks of inspiration for his Main Event presentation.
This year’s Main Event will also include delicious cocktails and food stations from Six Points Kosher Events, as well as special entertainment. The cost to attend the evening is $125 per person; no minimum Jewish Federation gift is required.
The Main Event’s Presenting Sponsor is Mill Creek Capital Advisors, LLC. Corporate sponsorship packages are still available for this year’s event. These packages, which have been enhanced with increased coverage in the Jewish Exponent, offer great value and a unique opportunity to partner with the Jewish Federation while gaining exposure among the entire Jewish community.
