Four Questions: Say It Loud — Say It Proud!

J. Proud hosts its first seder attended by members of the LGBTQ community.

Why was this seder different from all others? It was the first one hosted by J. Proud — comprised of various area Jewish groups — for members of the area’s Jewish LGBTQ community. Drawing some 75 participants, the seder — hosted in the past by Spectrum, an affiliate of Tribe 12 — was held at  the William Way Community Center with the LGBTQ Initiative for Jewish Family and Children's Service of Greater Philadelphia one of its organizers. Sharing the special evening (from left) are Warren Hoffman, associate director/community programming of the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia’s Center for Jewish Life and Learning; Rabbi Isabel de Koninck, executive director of Drexel Hillel, who led the service; Steven Share, Phoenix Schneider and Niki Kulp.
