An IDF officer offers motivational guidance to Philadelphia Eagles trainers.
When Howie Roseman, the Eagles' executive vice president of football operations, wanted a speaker to help motivate his team, who better to offer advice on how to “hold that line!” than a member of Israel’s premier fighting force?
Roseman encountered his motivator, Israeli First Lt. Eden Adler, 21, a commander in the 101st Paratrooper Brigade basic training base, at a local showing of Beneath the Helmet, a documentary about five Israeli high school grads making the transition into army life and the experiences they have doing so. Adler is featured in the documentary, which also will be screened Thursday, March 26, at 7 p.m., at Lower Merion High School.
The soldier, son of an American mother and Yemeni father, talked to the Eagles trainers on how Israel’s military is able to motivate and shape teens into combat-ready soldiers.
The officer didn’t leave the session empty-handed; he was gifted with a different kind of uniform than the one he wears on field: Eagles clothing that would outfit him and his family.
