PURIM PARTIES: Haman Didn’t Have a Chance!

It's party time as area groups, synagogues celebrate Purim.

Bet you can’t eat just one! That seemed to be the theme of the hamentashen-eating contest held by the joint congregations of Elkins Park’s Beth Sholom, Adath Jeshurun, Keneseth Israel and Old York Road Temple-Beth Am of Abington at its Kehillah Purim Carnival, coordinated by Liz and Andrew Taylor. Getting ready for a fitting of their tri-corned hats (back, from left) are Rabbi David Glanzberg-Krainin of Beth Sholom; Rabbi Kevin Kleinman of K.I.; Rabbi Jake Singer-Beilin of OYRTBA; Bruce Armon, Rabbi Rachel Kobrin of Adath Jeshurun; contest winner Larry Ufberg; Peter Sklar and Sarah Sklar; and (front) Ross M. Levy, Josh Shapiro, chairman of the Montgomery County Commission; Tara Cherwony (portraying Mona Lisastein); Risa Vetri Ferman, Montco district attorney; Steven Kline, Abington Township commissioner; Cantor Amy Levy of K.I.; and Amy Levitan.
