Jewish Pride Celebrates First Anniversary With Music and Mirth

On Sunday, March 8, Jewish Pride, the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia’s affinity group for members of the LGBT community, celebrated its first anniversary with “An Evening With Seth Rudetsky — Deconstructing Broadway on Broad Street” at the Gershman Y in Philadelphia.

Rudetsky, the host of Sirius/XM Satellite Radio’s On Broadway, is an accomplished musician, actor and writer. He delighted the 160 guests in attendance with his interpretations of songs sung by Patti LuPone, Betty Buckley and other contemporary performers.

Jewish Pride is a member of J.PROUD, a consortium of agencies serving the Jewish LGBTQ community. Jewish Pride co-chairs David Gold and Lynn Zeitlin invite all affinity group members to attend the consortium’s LGBTQ community seder. It will take place on Monday, April 6, at the William Way LGBTQ Community Center.

The seder will contain the traditional story, prayers and blessings and will utilize a customized Haggadah that is geared to an LGBTQ audience and has a strong underlying theme of inclusion.
