Local Appel at Eye of Israeli Festival

A local educational performer takes to Israeli streets as part of a festival in battle-wary Sederot.

Lisa Appel, owner/operator of an interactive educational performance company as well as a teacher at Temple Beth Hillel-Beth El, took part in the Start South/Daroma Festival, held recently in the embattled western Negev town of Sederot, Israel. The program was, says the performer, “to spread joy to a region that is often overlooked” and “to learn from their resiliency.” Artists from outside the region who took part worked with locals in creating projects that were then donated to area schools and used to decorate local bomb shelters.
