Philadelphia Boy Scout Derek Copeland of Troop 665/Temple Sinai is honoring the 70th anniversary of the U.S. involvement in the World War II Battle of the Bulge by recording the achievements of American soldiers involved in the fighting. Doing this as part of his Eagle Scout project, Copeland compiled the recorded histories of John Lauriello, a Marine Corps veteran, and Theodore Paluch, who survived the German massacre of American POWs in Belgium. The effort has now become part of the Library of Congress Veterans History Project in Washington, D.C.

Douglas K. Rosenblum of Pietragallo Gordon Alfano Bosick & Raspanti, LLP, where he is a partner, recently addressed the Pennsylvania Institute of CPA at the annual gathering of the Forensic and Litigation Services Conference, which was held in Valley Forge.

Bonnie Glantz Fatell, a partner with the law firm of Blank Rome, has been named one of the 2014 “Women of Distinction,” by the Philadelphia Business Journal.


Dr. Stephen C. Aronoff of the Temple University School of Medicine, where he chairs the Department of Pediatrics and serves as a professor, has been elected to membership in the American Pediatric Society.

Brian M. Salzberg, a professor of neuroscience and physiology at the University of Pennsylvania’s Perelman School of Medicine, has been voted in as a Fellow of the Optical Society. The medical pioneer was cited for “development of optical methods in cell physiology and neuroscience, including the discovery of voltage-sensitive dyes and calcium indicator dyes and functional imaging using these probes.”

Jeff Klein has joined the board of advisers of Summer Search Philadelphia, a self-help group targeting impoverished teenagers.

Attorney Matthew Ginsburg, whose specialty is commercial real estate, has been named a partner in the law firm of Dechert LLP.

Marc P. Weingarten, a partner at Locks Law Firm, recently presented a four-hour Continuing Legal Education session focusing on the ups and downs of cross-examination. The lecture was sponsored by LightStream Communications.
