Chanukah, O Chanukah, Come Light the Menorah!

View our photo montage of Chanukah candlelightings throughout Philadelphia and even the nation's capital.

Chanukiahs lit up the sky in Philadelphia and the nation's capital this week.

The American Friends of Lubavitch set a high standard for celebration as the National Chanukah Menorah, billed as the largest in the world, was lit Tuesday on the Ellipse in Washington, D.C., with the help of Vice President Joe Biden. The 35th anniversary celebration also featured Rabbis Abraham Shemtov, who heads up the Lubavitch program in the Philadelphia region, and his son, Levi, executive vice president of American Friends of Lubavitch, who serves the Washington area.

Of course, Washington wasn’t the only arena to shed light on the holiday. Click on the multimedia icon on the left for a slideshow of Chanukah photos from both D.C. and a number of Philadelphia groups that also gathered at public festivities.
