Rabbi Named for Newtown Temple

Congregation Brothers of Israel in Newtown names Rabbi Aaron Gaber as its new religious leader.

Rabbi Aaron Gaber, longtime religious leader at Congregation Beth Judah in Ventnor, N.J., is leaving that post to become the senior rabbi at Congregation Brothers of Israel in Newtown.

Gaber will start at his new post in August, replacing Rabbi Aaron Philmus. Philmus has assumed a new pulpit at Torat Yisrael in East Greenwich, R. I.

Gaber's communal involvement has included serving on the boards of the local Jewish Federation, the Jewish Family Service and Downbeach Clergy Ministerium. He was the president of the South Jersey Board of Rabbis and headed up its kashrut supervision. The rabbi also helped implement the Jewish Community Day School in Ventnor.
