Philly Native Authors Book on Shlomo Carlebach

A native Philadelphian has come out with a book on legendary singer/songwriter Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach.

Philadelphia native Natan Ophir has authored Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach: Life, Mission, and Legacy, a biography of the “Singing Rabbi.”

The 500-page tome has been acclaimed as a comprehensive look at the guru-like rebbe's take on life. The late Carlebach's 40-year career as a singer/songwriter is considered to have a vast influence on Jewish music during the last century.

Ophir currently directs the Jewish Meditation Institute of Jerusalem.
