A. Matthew Fishman, 86, retired president of Morris Fishman and Sons after 45 years, died April 10.
Known to his many friends as "Matt," after retirement he became a certified financial advisor.
At age 27, Fishman was the youngest person in 150 years to become master of the Shekinah Lodge of the Free & Accepted Masons. He also served on the board of Beth Shalom.
After moving to Boca Raton, Fla., he presided as cantor at Shabbat services at the Veranda Club, where he lived.
Always interested in music, as a young man he played trumpet in a band with Jerry Fine, and in Florida, he performed in a variety of shows, including "Fiddler on the Roof."
He was voted "Prom King" by fellow residents at the Veranda Club because of his popularity.
Fishman is survived by his wife, the former Mildred Coopersmith; daughters Ellen Davis and Susan Orlins; son Mark Fishman; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
