NEW YORK (JTA) — Gabriel Cohen, founder of the National Jewish Post & Opinion newspaper, died at age 98.
The Associated Press reported that Cohen died April 19 at St. Vincent Hospital Hospice in Indianapolis.
Cohen, a native of Louisville, Ky., founded the Indianapolis-based weekly newspaper in 1935.
He also had a brief professional boxing career under the name Abie Levy.
“He was a feisty guy,” Post freelancer Ed Stattman told the A.P. “He was very decisive, very determined. He was absolutely in love with his job.”
