Join us on Sunday, Nov. 11 for Federation’s 5th Annual Mitzvah Mania Day of Community Service.
Two hundred volunteers are needed to get their hands dirty in the Lotus Garden — an urban oasis in the Cobbs Creek section of Fairmount Park. You’ll clean up and enhance the trails, install hydrangeas, asters and other native ferns and flowers in partnership with staff from Fairmount Park’s Conservancy program. This project connects the upper and lower Cobbs Creek trail system to the local community.
This family-friendly Mitzvah Mania activity (minimum age of 10 to participate) will be conducted in two shifts of 100 volunteers each. Sign up for either the 9 a.m. to noon or 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. shifts online at jewishphilly.org/mitzvahmania or call the Mitzvah Mania hotline at 215-832-0557.

Got a green thumb? Come test it out by helping to create the Kaiserman JCC Mitzvah Garden. Sixty volunteers, ages 8 and older, are needed to prepare the grounds and create the beds that will be home to delicious vegetables and herbs come spring, and to assist with a general fall clean up on the grounds of the Perelman/Kaiserman campus located at City Line and Haverford Avenues in Wynnewood.
To add to the fun, you can make your own scarecrow to keep the animals away from the plants. For a small fee of $10 you can make one scarecrow for the Mitzvah Garden and another to take home.
