The annual gala of the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of the Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) celebrated the organization’s 120th anniversary on Sept. 12 at the Philadelphia Hilton. More than 300 Jewish and Christian Zionists attended the event, where four awards were presented.
Philadelphian Allen L. Rothenberg received the Pillar of the Community Award. Jonathan S. Tobin, a former editor of the Jewish Exponent, received the Ben Hecht Award for Outstanding Journalism, Rabbi Yaacov Orimland of Margate, N.J., received the Guardian of Israel Award, while Jim and Diane Showers received the Friends of Zion Award.
