Warren Freedman

With great sorrow, the family of Warren Freedman announced his death in Pomona, NJ on Sunday, July 14, 2013. He was 82 years old. Warren was born in Philadelphia on June 10, 1931, and was a graduate of West Philadelphia High School and Temple University. He most recently was a proud resident of Wellington, FL and Ventnor City, NJ, where he made many, many friends with his easy-going nature, his unselfish generosity of spirit, his charm and good looks. He loved playing golf, tennis, bridge, stickball, and horseshoes on the beach, and was a Stickball Hall of Famer. He raised a loving family in Cherry Hill, NJ, serving on the town’s planning board. He founded a successful accounting firm in Pennsylvania from which he retired in 1998. He raised another loving family in Huntingdon Valley, PA. His six children and their spouses, eleven grandchildren and their spouses; and nine great-grandchildren share wonderful memories of his support, love and companionship. He cherished family and friends, coworkers, and the quality of his life. His own words beautifully capture how much Warren loved life and those around him: Please do not mourn for me. I have had a wonderful, satisfying, rewarding, lucky life. I was fortunate to have had two beautiful, loving, caring wives, who gave me two wonderful families. I did not realize one could love so many with such a small heart. Each addition to my family made my heart grow to love each one as individuals. I cherished every moment with them and shared in their individual successes. I was lucky to enjoy my career as a partner in a CPA firm, confident and looking forward to work every day. One of the best decisions I made turned out to be retiring to Wycliffe -- a Wellington paradise where I met new friends who became my third family, and where I renewed my childhood with friendly, competitive games. The journey has been fruitful and heart-warming, and paid many dividends. I was blessed to be a part of your lives. You will be blessed (I hope) with some good memories of me. Rather than mourn, I ask everyone to keep Izzie involved in their lives and to watch over her. And as a reminder to all, especially Izzie, “Love is a many splendored thing.” He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Florence Margolis, in 1982. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, the former Isadora (Izzie) Levinson; by his children Lee Freedman of Lake Worth, FL; Marc (and Terry) Freedman of Cherry Hill, NJ; Staci (and Michael) Mishkin of Wellington, FL; by step-children Cimone (and Brad) Goldman of Scarsdale, NY; Janine Kubert (and Perry Arnsfield) of San Francisco, CA; Nicole (and Jeff) Levin of Bala Cynwyd, PA; grandchildren Jason (and Nadine) Freedman; Nikki (and Jonathan) Cohen; Ryan (and Robyn) Mishkin; Farryl (and Marcelo) Bocato; Erica, Flynt Freedman, Alec, Kyle and Sydney Goldman; Noah and Zach Levin; and great-grandchildren, Milena, Daniella and Enzo Bocato; Leilani, Adrian and Jude Mishkin; Julie and Devin Cohen; and Sam Freedman. He will be terribly missed by all who knew him and loved him. Shiva will be observed Tuesday, July 16, in Cherry Hill, NJ, from 4 to 8 PM at the home of Marc and Terry Freedman, and on Wednesday, July 17, from 4 to 8 PM at Izzie’s home in Ventnor City, NJ. The family requests that any memorial donations should be sent to the American Cancer Society.
