Super Sunday: A Local Celebration
Yes, Super Sunday 2008 was a major fundraiser for the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia, and the essential health, education and social services it supports here, in Israel and around the world.
However, it also was an opportunity for Jews to connect with old friends and make new ones; to meet and greet mayors, past and present (one who happens to currently be governor of Pennsylvania); to schmooze, dance and nosh -- to express oneself Jewishly in the shared spirit of tzedakah!
Super Sunday co-chairs Holly and Norm Nelson assembled a hard-working committee that worked in partnership with Federation staff to make the day a success.
They coordinated child care with the staff of Federation Early Learning Services; arranged for a full lineup of family entertainment; decorated Federation's Radnor Campus to give the phone-a-thon a festive atmosphere; secured donations of food throughout the day; and much, much more.
Hundreds of volunteers of all ages participated in Super Sunday. They came to the campus from many different communities throughout the Greater Philadelphia area to make phone calls; sort, research and distribute campaign pledge cards; and help with other tasks associated with the big day.
