Barbara and Norman Stein of Philadelphia announce the engagement of their daughter, Rachel Amy Stein, to Kevin Douglas Birns, son of Mark and Ann Birns of Potomac, Md.
Rachel is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication and rhetoric. She holds a Master of Education in elementary and special education from Holy Family University. Rachel is a second-grade teacher in Fairfax County, Va.
Kevin graduated from Indiana University at Bloomington with both a Bachelor and a Master of Science degree in accounting and technology management. He is a licensed certified public accountant and has his own government contracting consulting business in the Washington, DC area.
Rachel is the granddaughter of the late Hilda and Joseph Kahn and the late Rae and Manuel Stein. Kevin is the grandson of Sally Krieger of Palm Beach, Fla., and the late Karl Krieger and the late Naomi and Leon Birns.
Sharing this joyous occasion are siblings Caitlin and Mitchell Stein, Jason Altman, Samantha and Robert Hirschberg, Michael and Rachel S. Birns, as well as nieces Jessica, Alexis, Brooke, and Abigail and nephews Jordan and Ryan
A December 2018 wedding is planned in the Philadelphia area.
