At his crest: Open wide and make way for the new president of the Pennsylvania Dental Association. That would be Dr. Bernie Dishler of Elkins Park; the longtime prominent Jewish community leader -- as familiar with receiving plaques of honor as he is removing dental plaque from his patients -- was recently installed at the org's 144th annual session. ...

Honor is honored: Judge Susan Peikes Gantman, a Pennsylvania Superior Court judge and longtime Philly and national Jewish communal leader, has received the Anne X. Alpern Award of the Pennsylvania Bar Association at ceremonies held at its May 9 annual gathering. This prestigious salute joins the ranks of many accorded the jurist over the years. ...

Just in time for Mother's Day, "Stars" offers a tweak of the cheek to Jeff Jubelirer, local communications specialist and regional ADL board member, just named recipient of ADL's 2012 Daniel R. Ginsberg Leadership Award. The honor was accorded Jubelirer during national ADL ceremonies in Washington, D.C. ...

The Pennsylvania Ballet has taken an untraditional twist to what is normally untraditional casting with its superbly done Peter Pan now at the Academy of Music. While the lead is played by a male -- usually a role for petite women -- the part of Michael Darling is portrayed by -- Abigail Mentzer! ...

If ever there was a good bet for a sportsguy deserving to be honored, it's Bet on the J award winner Michael Barkann of Comcast SportsNet. The local fave is being saluted May 12 at Kaiserman JCC's annual Bet on the J fundraiser. ...

How's this for Smash casting? Among those joining the NBC show's Megan Hilty in the current Encores! production of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes in New York is Cherry Hill, N.J.'s, musical star Aaron Lazar. ...

Wallingford's wallop? Josh Young is, indeed, a super "Star": The Ohev Shalom congregant just nailed a Tony Award nod for his role as Judas in Broadway's Jesus Christ Superstar. Mom Judith and Dad Russell will be making it up to NYC for the June 10 event. ...

And, of course, a major "Star" for the real stars this weekend -- and every day of the week: Moms, you're the best! And, yes, we will remember to put on our sweaters (even if it's 80 degrees out there)!
