Irwin C. Saft passed peacefully this Monday, after a brief illness, at the age of 91, with his wife, Carole, by his side.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Irwin travelled the world as a Captain in the Navy, before starting his own insurance business.

Irv is survived by his wife, his children Mallory, Stephanie, Marjorie, Judith and Robert, as well as his seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his beloved son, Scott.  An avid reader, lover of theater and music, skilled sailor, and Penn State super-fan, Irv was cherished and adored by his family, and will be greatly missed.

Donations can be made in his memory to the Penn State Library and The Philadelphia Library for the Bling and Handicapped. Shiva for friends and family will be at his daughter Marji’s, Tuesday and Wednesday, (March 14-15)  from 5:30-8:30pm. Memorial information will be forthcoming.
