SONIA RUBY (nee BINDER), age 90, died on December 24, 2013. A 1944 graduate of the Temple University School of Music who had a 5 decade career in Atlantic City as a musician and a singer. Following the death of her husband, VICTOR, MRS. RUBY became the host of "Sunday Music Concert Hall" on WMID. She was president of the local AAUW, Atlantic County Medical Auxiliary, and the NJ Brandeis Association. She taught music to the blind, to prisoners, led choral groups including Beth Judah Synagogue. A member of the NJ State Board of Education in the 1970's. She was a well-known soprano who sang at many occasions in the Atlantic City area. Wife of the late DR. VICTOR RUBY; mother of DR. EDWARD (MICHELLE), LEON, DR. MARIANNE (DR. GARY EMMETT), ROSALIND, DR. SAMUEL (BETH), and the late RICHARD; sister of PETER BINDER and the late DR. SAMUEL and DR. MARTIN; and also survived by 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Esther Boyer School of Music at Temple University or the Delaware Valley Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.
