Flossie and Tony Riesner of Lansdale announce the marriage of their daughter, Amy Jo Riesner, to Bret Robert Scher, son of George and Mary Ann Scher of La Jolla, Calif.
The ceremony took place on May 25 at Congregation Beth Israel in La Jolla.
Cantor Arlene Bernstein and Rabbi Jeff Brown officiated.
Bridesmaids were Sherry Riesner, sister of the bride, and Leslie Miller, sister of the groom. Sydney Block and Monica Silverman, cousins of the bride, served as junior bridesmaids.
Chris Miller, brother-in-law of the groom, served as the best man. Joshua Miller, nephew of the groom, was the ring bearer.
The signing of the ketubah was witnessed by Shari Most, Jeff Brown, Robert Silverman and Chris Miller.
Amy is the granddaughter of the late Lillian and Arthur Evans of Philadelphia, and the late Sidney and Josephine Riesner of New York City. Bret is the grandson of the late Abraham and Edith Scher of Queens, N.Y.; and the late Mildred and Thomas Santore, also of Queens.
An alumna of Akiba Academy, Amy graduated from Barnard College with a bachelor's degree in psychology and from Columbia University with a master's degree in social work.
Bret earned a bachelor's degree from Stanford University and a medical degree from Ohio State University.
After a honeymoon in Hawaii, the couple lives in La Jolla.
