Usually, couples do their traditional cake tasting between three and six months before their wedding. I was a little behind the ball when my fiancé and I showed up at Night Kitchen Bakery this past Saturday (only three weeks from our wedding date!) to decide on our dessert since, as luck turned out, they had a cancellation.

While I don't suggest procrastinating, it is comforting to know that they were able to accomodate us with such short notice....

Regardless of whether or not you go for the full Pesach Monty, complete with new dishes and kosher-for-Passover condiments, committing to eight days sans chametz (Hebrew for leavened foods that are forbidden during Passover) will be a challenge, thanks to the ubiquity of the five grains — wheat, barley, spelt, rye and oats — we must omit from our diets for the duration of the holiday....
