Rabbi Ira F. Stone of Temple Beth Zion-Beth Israel is framed at the Barnes Foundation by Bob and Debbie Fleischman (left), co-chairs of the event honoring him for 25 years of service; and Jeanette Lerman-Neubauer and Joseph Neubauer, sponsors of the gathering.

After 25 years, it's nice to know, sang Tevye and Golda in "Fiddler on the Roof." Rabbi Ira Stone knows, too, about the pride, respect and love emanating from Temple Beth Zion-Beth Israel, the Center City congregation he has served for 25 years.

Congregants were invited to "Honor a Master and Frame Our Future" on Oct. 24, the title referring to the fact that the celebratory fundraiser was held at the Barnes Foundation.

Under Stone's leadership, the congregation "already has begun painting a portrait of what it means to be a center of Conservative Jewish life and learning in Center City," the invitation read, adding that it "will soon embark on a rabbinic transition."

In addition to leading BZBI, Stone has published three books, received an honorary doctorate of divinity degree from Jewish Theological Society and been a national activist in the Mussar movement.
