Lois Green, 67, director of pharmacy at Magee Rehabilitation Hospital, died Jan. 10. The former Lois Weinman, she was a resident of Independence Place in Center City.
Green earned her bachelor’s degree from Temple University. Shortly af-ter graduation, she moved to Aspen, Co., for several years where she worked as a waitress and enjoyed cross-country skiing.
She returned to Philadelphia where she met her husband, real estate developer, Abner Green. It was her husband, now deceased, who suggested that she pursue a career in pharmacy. With his support and encouragement, she returned to Temple University to complete her pharmacy degree.
Her pharmacy career began at Jefferson Hospital where she would devote the next 30 years of her life. She moved through the ranks to become director of pharmacy for the Magee Rehabilitation Hospital (part of the Jefferson Health System).
A believer in life-long learning, Green took French lessons and was learning bridge and tennis. She also believed in giving back to her community and was a member of the board of directors of the Parkinson Council.
Green is survived by her daughter, Jane Green; a brother, Ron Weinman; and two grandchildren.
