Amy and Robert Jubelirer of Huntingdon Valley announce the engagement of their daughter, Rebecca Emily Jubelirer, to Michael Placito, son of Shelley and Scott Leaser of The Villages, Fla.
Rebecca graduated from Germantown Academy and Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill., where she earned a degree in performance studies. She completed a master's degree in educational theater at New York University and currently teaches 10th-grade English at the New Heights Academy Charter School in New York City. This past summer, Rebecca traveled to northern Uganda as part of the Invisible Children Teacher Exchange program. The couple plans to return to this region of Africa for their honeymoon.
Michael, a graduate of Fontainebleau High School in Mandeville, La., also graduated from Northwestern University, where he met Rebecca in a poetry class. He studied radio/television/film and creative writing for the media, and holds a master's degree in critical studies from the USC School of Cinematic Arts in Los Angeles. Michael is a faculty administrator for Columbia University. He is pursuing a second master's degree in television and radio at Brooklyn College.
Sharing in the couple's joy are Rebecca's grandparents, Laurette Lehrer of Manchester, N.J.; and Sherman Jubelirer, originally from Sharon, Pa. She is also the granddaughter of the late Murray Lehrer and the late Charlotte Jubelirer. Michael's grandparents are John and LaVeta Dunn of The Villages, Fla.
The couple, who lives in Manhattan, is planning a July wedding at the Cescaphe Ballroom in Northern Liberties.
