Ms. Sue Shapiro of Philadelphia, and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Beckelman of Langhorne announce the engagement of their children, Melissa Staci Shapiro and Eric Marc Beckelman.

Melissa graduated from Towson University and earned a Master of Arts degree in speech language pathology from the University of Maryland. She is currently working as a speech language pathologist at Lankenau Medical Center.

Eric studied information technology and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Syracuse University. He is currently pursuing a second degree and will graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Drexel University in September 2012.

Sharing in the couple's joy is Melissa's brother, Scott. Eric's brother, David, sister-in-law, Elizabeth, and nephew Nathaniel are also looking forward to the celebration.

The couple is planning a September 2012 wedding in Philadelphia.
