Joan Rosenwald Scott, 84, died Sept. 29 at her home in Haverford.
Scott attended the George School in Newtown and Colby Junior (now Colby-Sawyer) College in New Hempshire. She worked as a nurse's aide during World War II, and volunteered in secret at the Interceptor Command.
She served on the boards of the Visiting Nurse Association, the Abington Hospital Women's Auxiliary, Industrial Valley Bank, the Philadelphia Zoo, Episcopal Academy, Thomas Jefferson University, and LaSalle University, where she received an honorary doctorate.
A life member of Reform Congregation Keneseth Israel, Scott was an early supporter of Planned Parenthood, and a longtime volunteer of the United Fund.
In addition, she played inter-club golf tournaments for Philmont and Gulph Mills.
Scott is survived by her husband of 63 years, Isadore "Scotty" Scott; daughters Betsy S. Kleeblatt and Peggy Lee Scott; son Jonathan D. Scott; sister Janet R. Becker; twin brother Robert L. Rosenwald; six grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by sister Helen Rosenwald Snellenburg; brother Julius Rosenwald II; and her oldest grandson.
