Susan and Gerald J. Pomerantz of Elkins Park, and Judi and Ray Unger of Columbia, Md., announce the engagement of their children, Deborah Beth Pomerantz and Jason Hillel Unger.

Debbie is a graduate of Boston University with a degree in psychology. She currently works as an assistant kindergarten teacher at the Solomon Schechter Day School in Newton, Mass.

Jason is a graduate of Boston University with a degree in broadcast journalism. He is the associate editor of CE Pro and TecHome Builder magazines.

The couple met while members of Kol Echad, the Jewish a cappella group at Boston University.

Debbie is the granddaughter of Yetta Goldstein and the late Jules Goldstein, and the late Samuel and Esther Pomerantz. Jason is the grandson of Blanche and Mickey Melman, and the late Arthur and Viola Unger.

The couple is planning a January wedding.
