Bernard and Rae Jean Ghee of Monroe, N.J.; and Mona Jacobs of Philadelphia, formerly of Wallingford, announce the engagement of their children, Heather Lauren Ghee and Evan Simon Jacobs. Evan is the son of the late Dr. Samuel Jacobs.

Heather is a graduate of theUniversity of Maryland with a Bachelor of Arts degree in hearing and speech sciences. She also earned a master's degree inspeech-language pathology from Hunter College in New York City. Heather currently works with disabled and developmentally delayed children.

Evan also graduated from theUniversity of Maryland, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology. He currentlyworks in the pharmaceutical industry as a microbiologistfor Schering-Plough Research Institute. In the fall, he will begin a full-time doctoral program at the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey, where he will pursue a Ph.D. in immunology.

The couple is planning a May wedding in Morristown, N.J.
